Floy Lee Tally (F.L.), 89, of Abilene, passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 at his home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with Bishop Lunt officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Gap cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday December 28, from 5pm to 7pm at North's Funeral Home.
F.L. was born February 14, 1927 in Buffalo Gap Texas to Piercy Hershall and Cora Lee (Purcell) Tally. He went to work at Camp Barkley in 1943 where he worked until he joined the Navy in December, 1944. During his Navy career he became a veteran of three wars; WWII, Vietnam, and the Korean War. He married the love of his life Ivie Omie Jones on November 13, 1948. Upon his return to Abilene he worked as a well renowned sheet metal worker. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was an active member in the community. He, along with Ivie became instrumental in establishing the church in Abilene where he remained an active member until his passing.
F.L. was preceded in death by his wife Ivie Tally, his son Richard Tally, and daughter Wendy (Edwena) McKeever. Three brothers; William (Carrol) Tally, H.P (Spud) Tally, James Hershall Tally and three sisters, Cleo Fraiser, Beulah (Tiny) Lynn and Dorthy Watson.
He is survived by daughter-in-law Paula Tally, three grandsons; Billy McKeever and Amy Gotelaera, Lee and Jillian McKeever, Bryan and Abbie McKeever all of Abilene. Three granddaughters; Christina and Brian Criminger, Sarah Tally, and Courtney and Jermell Modkins, all of the Austin area, and six great grandchildren.
