Floyd Ellis Miller II was born to Floyd and Marilyn Frazier Miller on June 8, 1974, and passed from this life unexpectedly on August 24, 2026. He was 52 years old.

Visitation for Ellis will be held at North's Funeral Home on Thursday, September 3, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Highland Church of Christ at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4.

Ellis attended Austin Elementary in the early 1980s, when only a handful of minority students were enrolled at the school. While at Austin he participated in Boy Scouts and 4-H - raising rabbits as his 4-H project. He continued to participate in 4-H in high school. He graduated from Cooper High School. While in high school, Ellis worked for Mr. Gatti's, developing a strong work ethic at an early age.

Ellis was baptized into the body of Christ as a teenager during a summer vacation at his grandparents' home in Hallettsville, Texas. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ.

After high school, Ellis attended Southwestern Christian College and Cisco Junior College. He then entered the workforce, holding several jobs before finding his niche at Betty Hardwick. The mental health field wasn't just his job - it was his passion. His clients were his family, and whenever events were planned for his blood family, Ellis always made sure his "guys" were not forgotten. One time, while walking with his dad through one of the homes he managed, he pointed to a sign that read, "Call this number if you have a complaint." He told his dad, "They will never have to call that number concerning me." He loved and respected his clients, and they loved and respected him in return.

Ellis was patient but held firm to his principles when working with his clients, always striving for the best outcome for them. He had the ability to lean in and truly hear what was being said, to walk a little slower if that's what someone needed. He carried a kind spirit, giving people the benefit of the doubt. Some of his clients called him by one of these names: Papa Ellis, Papa "E," Ellis, or Mr. Sunshine. He didn't believe that people should look down on others or make them feel less than someone else. He felt that it was cruel to make a joke at another person's expense. He didn't see the benefit for anyone to do that.

Ellis had such a strong work ethic that it was his absence from work on the morning of August 24 that prompted police to perform a wellness check.

Ellis had other passions, too. He collected model cars, watches, and Nike shoes - his shoe collection would rival most women's. He loved cars, and his prized possession was a 2005 Lexus LS430. He wasn't a new-car kind of guy; he believed in finding a good used car and taking care of it. He also helped feed the neighborhood's community cats.

He volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Christian Service Center, and he served on the Board of Directors of the West Texas Tribune.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Mamie Frazier II; his paternal grandparents, Floyd and Mattie Miller; aunts Vivian Frazier, Betty Smith, and Pearl Frazier; uncles John Frazier III and Robert Dixon; and first cousins John Frazier IV, Malachi Williams, and Marsha Frazier.

He is survived by his parents, Floyd and Marilyn Frazier Miller; sisters Sienna Miller and Amber Monroe (Bryan); nephews Ryder and Asher Monroe; and niece Magdalene Monroe. He is also survived by his best friend, Dionila Garvin, and numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, friends, and clients.

The community will miss a lot of things about Ellis, one of the things they will miss is the first thing they see. His smile.
