Fredrick Norman Gleaves, 74, of Abilene passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024. A Graveside Service will be held Monday, September 23, 2024 at 1:00pm at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Fred was born June 5, 1950 in Modesto, CA to Marilyn Lucille McBride and Billy Norman Gleaves. Fred received his primary education from Turlock High School in California. After high school he joined the United States Army. He served from January 1969 to January 1972 and was ranked SP5. Fred held great pride in serving his country. In his spare time he loved working on puzzles. Fred really enjoyed reading and learning about new things. One of his favorite pastimes was collecting stamps. Fred cherished the simple things in life and he will be dearly missed. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; Marilyn McBride and Norman Gleaves. Left to cherish his memories are: wife, Kathleen Gleaves, 3 daughters, and 5 grandchildren.
