Gaetana Gretchen Smiley of Plano passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2026. Memorial Service will be held Friday September 25, 2026 at Crafton Baptist Church 2590 FM 2127 Chico, TX 76431 at 11:00AM.

Gaetana Gretchen Smiley was born on October 16, 1980, in Grand Prairie, Texas, to Bill and Peggy (Doresey) Smiley. She passed away on September 9, 2026, at the age of 45.

Gaetana was a graduate of Richland High School. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, fishing, listening to Christian music, spending time in the great outdoors, and caring for and loving animals. She had a special love for animals and found joy in their companionship. Above all, she cherished her family and the time she spent with those she loved.

Gaetana is survived by her four children: Chandler Lawing and his wife, Ashley, of Newark; Chloe Sandell; Charles Smiley; and Charity Sandell, all of Oak Point. She is also survived by her mother, Peggy, of Chico; her two brothers, Ron Smiley and his wife, Mandy, of Haslet, and Bill Smiley and his wife, Janny, of Keller; her ex-husband, Jason Sandell; and numerous extended family members and dear friends.

Gaetana was preceded in death by her loving father, Bill; her grandparents; and many other cherished family members and friends.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
