Gene Thomas Cox of Roscoe Texas, went peacefully home to be with the Lord on April 23 rd , 2026. Gene had celebrated his 78 th birthday on April 12 th through several days as his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and friends visited the home of their PaPaw to celebrate his life of wisdom, terroristic kidding, and candy giving. Gene was born to Arlen and Ethel Cox on April 12 th , 1948 in Morton TX, He was the youngest of 9 children, but by only 45 minutes to his twin brother Jerry who preceded him in death in 2025. His big sister, Pauline Bourdeaux remains as the surviving sibling. Gene is also survived by wife of 35 years, Sherry Cox of the home. Children Vickie and husband Jacky Reese of Spade, TX. Randy and wife Marissa Cox of Rotan, TX. Bonus children Yancy and wife Laura Spivey of Duncan, OK. Kerry and husband John Gray of Granbury, TX. Marnie and husband Toby Bradberry of Lubbock, TX. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a crew of great friends. After working many years in the oil industry, he founded SJ's (Sherry Jo) Auto Sales in 2005 where he made numerous friends selling them cars. He managed the sales operation and Sherry Jo ran the cleaning operation. Gene obviously loved the Lord and was an integral part of the First Baptist Church of Roscoe where so many generous and loving compliments have flowed in. He was a great impact to many. Gene's love of life was very obvious in his love of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He spoke to them of the Lord, but in the same breath would fabricate some story to terrorize their being. A great duty of being a PaPaw. He made a life lasting impact to his family and will always be remembered to generations. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital, Hendrick Hospice Care, and the office of Dr. Rubio as great care was provided. A memorial service will be held May 2 nd , 2026 at 11am, First Baptist Church of Roscoe. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the church which Gene loved so much.
