George Edward Fiedler, 67, of Abilene, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2025, in Abilene, Texas. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Elmwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 7:30PM to 9:30 PM at North's Funeral Home.
George was born on November 15, 1957, in Abilene to George "Hag" Fiedler and Joyce Johnson-Fiedler. He received his primary education from Abilene Public School. He spent over 20 years working for Mrs. Baird's Bread, where he was well known for his hard work and dedication. Known fondly as "Papa" by his grandchildren and "Iron Man" by his fishing buddies. George was an avid fisherman and a proud member of the Jim Ned Bass Club.
He found great joy in spending time outdoors, with the people he loved and having Saturday morning breakfast at the Huddle House. George had a larger than life personality, corny sense of humor, and was an extremely imaginative story teller, while also being "as ornery as his frequently referenced..." Bodacious the Bucking Bull.
George was preceded in death by his parents, George "Hag" Fiedler and Joyce Fiedler, as well as his sister, Carolyn Payne, and brother-in-law, Rodney Payne.
He is survived by his children, Tara Fiedler and Lenzie Fiedler, both of Abilene; his grandchildren, Lakelynn, Kya, Camrin, and Jory; his nephew, Larry Hodges and wife Sharon of Ovalo, Texas, and their children, Jennifer, Ty, Rileigh, and Laramie; his niece, Jamie Daniel and husband Tracy of Burleson, Texas, and their children, Ashlyn, Aubrey, and Abby.
George will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His legacy of love, dedication, and his passion for life will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Services entrusted to North's Funeral Home.
