Gerald Wayne Bussey was born in Valdosta, Georgia to Berry and Cora Lee (Chaney) Bussey, November 23, 1936. He graduated from Pine Grove High School in Valdosta and later served in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas. It was there that he met the love of his life, Patsey Ruth Holcomb, and the two were married on July 1, 1960, in Roby, Texas. Gerald had a remarkable gift for fixing anything and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. Throughout his life, he pursued several careers-working as a mechanic specializing in airplane brakes, farming the land, and driving across the country as a long-haul trucker. Above all, Gerald valued time with his family, his church family, and his friends. He had a great sense of humor and gift for conversation. His kindness, work ethic, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Gerald Wayne Bussey was preceded in death by his parents, Berry and Cora Lee Bussey, his wife, Patsey Ruth Bussey, and his son, Wendell Coy Bussey. He is survived by his son, Berry Wayne Bussey, his daughter, Denise Renee and husband James Camacho. His grandchildren, Nolen Brent Camacho and his wife Precilla, Daniel Wayne Hampton, and Patricia Schied. His great grandchildren, Mia June, Millie Ruth, and Archer Brent Camacho. He also leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends. Special thanks to all the staff at Windcrest Nursing Home for providing my dad with a safe place to live and treating him like family. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM at North Park Baptist Church, 1525 Anson Ave, Abilene, Texas 79601.
