Glenda Mae Regeon Daley Baker, 74, passed away on August 1, 2021, in Abilene, Texas. A Celebration of Glenda's Life will be held on Saturday September 4th at 10:00 am at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St., Abilene. Glenda's story began in Abilene, Tx on December 6,1946. Her parents, Nelsyne and James Bryant Regeon had seven children. The Regeon family moved to Dallas after Glenda's 6th grade year at Locust Elementary and lived in Oak Cliff. Glenda went on to attend Crozier Tech High School in downtown Dallas. During these years Glenda was a member of the Student Government Association, National Honor Society and her senior year was a Sweet Heart Club finalist. She graduated from Crozier Tech with honors. One of her greatest joys during these high school years was her job at H.L. Green Department Store where she would sell popcorn and sodas afterschool. A few years after high school Glenda married Raymond Harry Daley. They settled in Abilene, Texas where they had their first child, Curtis Bryant. Years later the family moved to Florida for Raymond's jewelry business where they had their daughter, Misty Dawn. Raymond and Glenda were married 18 years until his death in 1985. Glenda retired from West Texas Utilities after working in Accounts Payable for more than 18 years. WTU provided an amazing community of friends that were like family for Glenda and her kids. Glenda remarried Robert "Bob" Baker and they had a blended family with four kids. During these years, Glenda was a devoted mother that supported her children in school activities, sports and ultimately in going for their dreams as they became adults. Many weekends Glenda could be found country dancing, playing softball with work friends or bowling on a local team. The greatest work of Glenda's life started when she earned the title of Gigi. Having grandchildren gave Gigi another chance to teach a new generation how to bake her amazing cookies. She was able to live with her grandchildren in El Paso, TX for five years. During this time Glenda could be found at soccer games, school events and, of course, baking her delicious cookies for many events and parties. Throughout her life, she enjoyed favorite pastimes like traveling, cruise vacations, going to horse races and casinos, playing a mean game of spades or dominoes, and spending time with family and friends, as well as traditions of Christmas morning and famous Thanksgiving meals. Her beautiful love of life and family, smile, laughter, and sense of humor will be remembered and held in our hearts. Glenda's favorite life message is found in the song, "I Hope You Dance". I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean, Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens, Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance, And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance…. Glenda is preceded in death by her parents, Nelsyne & James Bryant Regeon, her big sister, Barbara Regeon Coulter, her brother, James Otto Regeon II, her little sister, Debbie Regeon Banister, and her lifelong family friends Kenneth "Uncle Kenny" & Louise "Aunt Lou" Manuel. She is survived by her children, Curtis & Sharmon Daley of Abilene, Texas, Misty & Ron Haynes of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Her grandchildren, Lillian Olivia Haynes, Lola Kate Haynes and Kingston Bryant Haynes. Her siblings, Shirley Regeon Roys of Tye, TX, Gary Regeon of Brady, TX, Melody Regeon Boyd of Abilene, TX and James "Jim" Regeon of Fresno, California. Also, many beloved nieces and nephews, and her lifelong best friend Debbie Strayer of Abilene, TX. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to your favorite charity in memory of Glenda.
