Glenda Washington of Abilene passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020 at her home . Funeral Services will be held Saturday January 2, 2021 at 11:00am at North's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Andrew Penns Officiating. Glenda was born May 22, 1952 in Hill County TX to Frankie Mae Henry and Henry Washington. Glenda received her primary education Carter G. Woodson in Abilene. Glenda Graduated from Abilene High School in 1969, the first integrated graduating class. After High School she attended Paul Quinn College in Waco, TX and studied Business. She returned to Abilene and started working at Turner Hills BBQ and then transitioned over to working at the Abilene State School for many years. Glenda was most known for her smiling face at the Abilene ISD sporting events, working at the gate. She loved to cook, she loved DIY projects and she loved to help her community as much as she could. Glenda wouldn't hesitate to watch over niece and nephew when needed. Glenda was a long time, and very active member of the Bethel A.M.E. Church where she was a faithful member in the Mission Dept., Choir, Financial Board, Usher Board, Food Ministry, or just ready to serve in any capacity needed. Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, Frankie Washington and Henry Washington. Left to cherish his memories are: son, Jamar Washington and wife Teaundra Washington of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, grandchildren; Anthony Oages, Jamiera Washington, two great-grandchildren Araiyah Oages, Hayden Oages, sisters; Karen Rogers of Abilene, Sandra Washington of Abilene, Deborah Washington of Dallas, TX brothers; Danny Earl Washington of Abilene, Norman Washington of Dallas, TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
