Obituary

Guy Owen McFadden, age 91, of Abilene, Texas, passed away Wednesday, September 13th at peace and surrounded by family. Guy was born on June 22, 1932, to Alneer and Bessie McFadden in Amarillo, Texas. Being the son of a tradesman and minister, Guy lived in a few places before his family settled in Abilene for good in September of 1943. Guy attended Abilene High School and graduated in 1951. Guy met the love of his life, Joyce Faye Hill, in 1951. He knew the moment he met her that they would marry. Guy and Joyce made a beautiful couple and would go on to be married on November 6, 1953 (69 years). Not long after their marriage, Guy went into the Army (1953) and would serve for 2 years which included a tour in Germany. Once his tour of duty was over, he came home to be with his wife and baby boy and decided that would be the end of his service. Guy went on to receive his Associates Degree from Ranger College. He then developed a successful career in the paint industry. Starting out as a painter (like his father), Guy worked his way up in the Glidden Company to become one of their top salesmen. He enjoyed getting to meet people and serve his customers, but his heart was always at home with Joyce and the boys. He was a family man, had a loving tender heart, and always had a kind word to say. He was a long-time member of Northwest Church of Christ and even sang in a quartet with some of his church brothers. Guy loved his church family and the Lord. Guy was preceded in death by his loving wife Joyce Faye Hill McFadden, parents Alneer and Bessie McFadden and all six of his siblings. He is survived by his sons Don McFadden, and wife Debra, of Abilene and Doug McFadden and wife Rose, of Cocoa, FL. Three grandchildren Chrissy Cross (Jimmy) of Abilene, Sean McFadden of Cristoval and Cory McFadden (Hope) of Abilene and four great grandchildren, Drake, Erin, Lillian Gray and Ever. As well as many nieces and nephews and friends that became family. A memorial will be held for both Guy and Joyce (9/7/1936-2/26/2023) in November for what would have been their 70th wedding anniversary. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made to: Hendrick Hospice Parkinson's Foundation
