Harry Le Roy DeVore went to be with his Lord on Sunday June 1, 2014. Funeral services will be held, Wednesday June 4, 2014 at 10:00am at Victory Baptist Church with Rev. David Sims officiating. Burial will follow in the Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 3, 2014 At North's Funeral Home from 5-7pm.
Harry was born on December 1, 1933 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania to Harry A. and Mildred (Gerhold) DeVore. He graduated from Frankfort High School in Germany and was a member of the "European Brats." He enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served until 1964. He worked for twenty-two years at Kelly AFB in San Antonio in civil service.
He married Mary Elizabeth Carey on January 15, 1965 and they lived in the San Antonio area for 29 years. They moved to the Abilene area in 1994. They were active members of Victory Baptist Church. They enjoyed playing music & were involved with several musical groups.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Dawn Faxon.
He is survived by his wife, Mary. Son and Daughter in law; Thad and Tempye Carey of Hawley. One granddaughter, Tiffany Dawn of Austin. He is also survived by a brother in law, R.C. Crowell of Biloxi, MS and two nephews and three nieces also of Biloxi, MS.
