Hilario Valdez 61 of Abilene passed away Monday November 29 2010. A Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at North's Memorial Chapel 242 Orange Street with visitation to follow. Services will be 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Assisi Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Masonic Section of Abilene City Cemetery with Father Maxim Fernandes officiating under the direction of North's Funeral Home.
Hilario was born January 14 1949 in Leming Texas to Mariano and Francisa Valdez. He married Olga M. Montez on October 30 1982. He was employed by McMurry University for 15 years with the Air Conditioning & Heating staff. He also worked for Nosivad Oil Company and Clyde ISD for several years.
Hilario was a member of St. Francis Assisi Catholic Church Community. He was very active as a Guadalupano Crusillista Eucharistic Minister Member of Parish Council Member of the Finance Committee Usher Marriage Classes and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Hilario was happiest when he was fishing or working in his garden.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Olga M. Valdez of Abilene; two daughters: Linda and husband Ron Barfield of Abilene and Evelyn Vasquez of San Antonio; one son Roy Montez Sr. and wife Melissa of San Antonio several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; five brothers: Juan Valdez and wife Paula of McAllen Texas Eusebio Valdez and wife Petra of San Antonio Texas Roberto Valdez and wife Mary of Clyde Texas Felix Valdez of Leming Texas and Guadalupe Valdez and wife Consuelo of Dudley Texas; and three sisters: Pauline Valdez Selia Sorla and husband Manuel and Asecion Trevino and husband Alfredo all of Leming; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
