Ivy Carson Johnson Sr. was born January 14, 1925 in Colorado City, Texas to Andrew and Mary Etta (Brooks) Johnson. He was the fifth of 5 children. His earthly journey ended March 13, 2024 in Glenpool, Oklahoma. Ivy attended the old D.W. Wallace School, quitting in the 8th grade to work. At an early age, he Professed a hope in Christ and united with Payne Chapel C.M.E. Church. He was a faithful contributor, giving his weekly dues to his sister Mandy for the Church. Ivy worked as a laborer all his life. To support his family he was employed by Colorado Feed & Seed, M&T Meat Co., & The City of Colorado City. Ivy was a lifelong resident of Colorado City until he moved to Glenpool, OK due to health related issues. He resided in Glenpool for 12 years with his daughter Margaret, son-in-law Howard and granddaughter Daneshu. There he became an avid T.V. watcher of The Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud, and tennis with Venus & Serena Williams. Regardless of what the day would bring, he started his day reading his Daily Word Devotional and the Bible. Preceding him in death are his parents, two sons, Kenneth and Larry Johnson; two sisters, Charlie Mae Thompson, and Amanda Lindsey; three brothers, Andrew Johnson, Louie "Tud" Johnson, Sr. and John Elmer Lee, and grandson, Peter "PJ" Jackson. Survivors include daughters: Margaret (Howard) Nelson, Glenpool, OK, Pamela (John) Favors, Colorado Springs, CO, Diann (Thorney) Taylor, Wichita Falls, TX, Sons: Ivy Johnson, Jr., San Angelo, TX, Lyneal James, Midland, TX, Dwayne Jones, Colorado City, TX. Twenty-one grandchildren, Thirty-one great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Ivy C, Bubba C, R.C., Ivy, Mr. C., and Papa, as he was affectionately called will be missed by all who loved him. Dad, it's not goodbye but see you later.
