James Clifton Odom, 78, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on January 26, 2026, in Abilene.
James was born on April 2, 1947, in Sweetwater, Texas, and moved to Abilene at an early age. He attended Abilene ISD and graduated from Abilene High School, where he remained a proud Abilene High Eagle throughout his life. After high school, he briefly attended college in Dallas.
James spent many years working in the oil field with Mobil Oil, retiring in the mid-1990s after a dedicated career. On July 4, 1991, he married the love of his life, Judi, in Midland, Texas.
He loved sports, especially football and baseball, and found his greatest joy in watching his children and grandchildren play. He was a familiar face at high school football games and treasured time spent supporting family from the stands.
James is survived by his wife, Judi Odom of Abilene; his children, Clifton Wade Odom (Bobbie Sue) of Midlothian, Texas, Bryan Wendell Odom (Serena) of Richland Hills, Texas, Juli Dawn Goldthrite of Potosi, Texas, and Todd Harrison (April) of Amarillo, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.and 1 new great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his son James Warren Odom and his parents, James Nathaniel Odom and Meta Lucille Odom; also his sister, Meta Rue Puckett; and his granddaughter, Whitney Kay.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday January 31, 2026 at 1:30pm at Southern Hills Church of Christ. Visitation will be held Friday January 30, from 5-7pm at North's Funeral Home. A private Interment will be held Tuesday at the Abilene Municipal Cemetery.
