James "Jim" Hale 92 of Abilene passed away Tuesday August 20 2013. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday in North's Memorial Chapel with Mike Woodard officiating. Burial to follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of North's Funeral Home The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday evening in North's Memorial Chapel 242 Orange St. Mr. Hale was born July 19 1921 in Abilene Texas to Walter and Carrie (Jenkins) Hale Jr. His family was one of the pioneer families of Abilene and opened one of the first grocery stores prior to 1900. He served his country in the United States Army – Air Corp. during WW II. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was a good Christian man and member of the Southwest Park Baptist Church and a Master Mason. He was self-employed for over 40 years an auto mechanic. He was a member of the Model A Club. He was preceded in death by his parents one daughter one brother and sister-in-law. He is survived by his sister Nora White and husband Frank of Abilene.
