James A. "Tony" Hauck passed away on  January 7 2011 following an extended illness at the Hendrick Hospice Facility in Abilene Texas .  Visitation will be held  at  North's Funeral Home from 6-7:30 p.m. on Sunday January 9 2011.  A celebration of life service will be held on Monday January 10 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at North's Memorial Chapel 242 Orange Street with Reverend Bill Hauck officiating. Tony was born in Houston Texas on November 20 1942 and graduated from Jones High School .  Subsequently he enlisted in the Air Force and developed skills working on jet engines.  After discharge from the military he worked for General Dynamics in Ft. Worth where he worked for some ten years utilizing the skills he developed in the Air Force.  Following his tenure at General Dynamics he worked at various machine shops in Hamilton and the North Texas area.  After retiring as a machinist he worked for several years for H.E.B. in Abilene . He lived in the North Texas area for some thirty years.  Tony was passionate about country western dancing and developed many friends in the dancing community.  It was through his dancing interests that he met his future partner LaVaughn Wales who passed away on March 2 2006.  It was through LaVaughn that he developed an interest in the North American Indian culture leading him to develop a hobby making Indian jewelry.   While living in Hamilton he became active in mission work for the Baptist Church. Tony was preceded in death by his partner LaVaughn Wales and his mother Gladys Hauck . He is survived by his father Robert W. Hauck of Houston Texas ; brother Reverend William A. Hauck of Athens Texas ; and sister Marie Kirby of Folsom California . In lieu of flowers friends may wish to contribute to one of James ' favorite charitable organizations such as the National Wildlife Federation The Nature Conservancy or the Sierra Club.
