James Daulton "Jim" Kennedy AKA Mr. 'K' went to his heavenly home on May 22, 2017.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday in the North Park Assembly of God with John Shepard and Sam Earp officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in North's Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange St.
Mr. Kennedy was born April 16, 1923 in Weinert, Texas to Wesson and Effie (Heath) Kennedy. He attended school in Royston, Weatherford and Peaster, Texas. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from AT&T Long Lines after thirty-six years.
He married Gerdean Swaggerty Woods on June 13, 1948 in St. Louis, MO. He coached Little League Baseball at Lone Star Little League from 1968-2002 and was honored to have Jim Kennedy Field named after him. He coached Seven - Up bottles, Pepsi Challengers, and Coca Cola Bottles as well as many other All Star Teams.
In 1993 he helped start the 180 House and worked there until April 2017. He was a life-long member of North Park Assembly of God where he served as treasurer for forty years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Brothers and sisters; Garland (Margie) Kennedy. Lois Juanita "Sis" (Obie) West, Dorothy Ferdig, Doris Mitchell, Wanda (Doyle) Hardin, Weldon (Thena) Kennedy, Glenda (Joe Bill) Moore all of Weatherford. Thelma (Alvis "A.T.") Henry of Emory.
He is survived by his daughters, Rhea Arnett of Morrillton, Arkansas, Carol Hightower and husband David of Ennis, Texas, James Kennedy and wife Gwen of Abilene and Richard Kennedy and wife Tracy of Abilene, Texas. Randy and wife Cindy of Weatherford, Texas. He was a proud PawPaw to ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
We are so grateful to his caregivers at Hendrick Hospice and private caretakers, Melissa, Linda, Jodie and Kellee.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Wallace, Brett Burney, Travis Young, Bryant Garrett, Ronnie Simon and Mike Gomez. Honorary pallbearers, Warren Harris, Tim Greene, Don Scott, Benny Rhodes, Charlie Carter and Tim Tucker.
