Obituary

James Louis Williams Sr. 76 of Ovalo passed away Sunday April 24 2011. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at North's Funeral Home 242 Orange Street . Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at North's Memorial Chapel with Price Mathieson officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of North's Funeral Home. James was born February 11 1935 in Venus Texas to Marvin Lafette Williams and May Bell Lawson Williams. He was a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) and founded Williams Surveying Company in Abilene in 1972. He was very active in bowling in Abilene throughout his adult life collecting many awards including Bowler of the Year in 1996; he was inducted into the Abilene Bowling Association Hall of Fame 2000-2001 was Director of the Year 2003 and held the record for Mixed League Scratch 3-Man Team from 1996 to 2009. He was also an avid fisherman; it was one of his true passions. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers Jerry Lee Williams H.L. Williams and M.L. "Melvin" Williams; a sister Odena Louise Williams Benton; granddaughter Misty Dawn Williams and grandson Joshua Wayne Ogle. He is survived by his wife Katie B. Bryson Williams; son James L. Williams Jr. and wife Susie of Ovalo; daughter Terri Ann Williams Collins and husband Steve of Abilene; four brothers: David Williams of North Platte Nebraska Randy Williams and wife Toni of Enid Oklahoma Alvin Lafette Williams and wife Cindy of Plainview Texas and Teddy Lewis Williams and wife Alabama of Coden Alabama; three sisters: JoAnn Williams McCurdy and husband Mickey of Davis Oklahoma Nelda Faye Williams Thompson of Slaton Texas and Ruby Ethel Williams Benton and husband Elden of Abernathy Texas; five grandchildren: Kalana Hudgins and husband Jack of Abilene Kelsey Williams of Ovalo Kinsley Williams of Abilene Kaden Williams of Abilene and Stephanie Collins of Abilene; and four great-grandchildren: Kate Holladay of Abilene Ian Holladay of Abilene Evelyn Williams of Ovalo and Carly Hudgins of Abilene.
