Janet Louise Winter. 78 of Abilene died Tuesday September 30 2008 at a local hospital. A visitation will be Thursday October 2 2008 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at North's Funeral Home 242 Orange St. Entombment will be in Colorado Springs Colorado at a later date.
Mrs. Winter was born in Cleveland Ohio on June 5 1930 to Joseph Louis Baldi and Margaret Mae Hell. She married Lt. Paul E. Jones on June 19 1948 and they lived in Oklahoma Texas Kentucky Maryland California. Washington Kansas Virginia Colorado New Jersery New York Germany and Belgium. After the death of Col. Paul E. Jones she married Lt. Colonel F. John Winter in 1982.
She established Emergency Medical Services for areas of El Paso and teller counties CO with the late Dr. Kim Langstaff. She taught tailoring for Ft. Sill Officer's Wives Club Founded the Treasure Trove at Ft. Totten New York Served as President of Ft. Hancock NJ Officers Wives Club President of Mercedes Benz Club of America Colorado Spring Chapter and President of Ikebana International Chapter 95 also in Colorado Springs. She was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest Abilene Texas.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Col. Paul E. Jones and her second husband Lt. Col. F. John Winter. One daughter Susan Jones-Mandi and one son Stewart Jones.
She is survived by Mary Jones Espinoza and husband Robert of Abilene Texas. Connie Jones Hill and husband Mike of Eveleth MN. David Jones and wife Kathleen of Satellite Beach Fl Douglas Jones of Mojave CA step-grandson Stephen Eurich and wife Patricia of Abilene Texas and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
