Jerry Glenn Stiewert of Haskell, Texas, passed away on September 4, 2024, at Hendricks Hospital South in Abilene, Texas. Military Honors will be held Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 11am at the Texas State Veteran Cemetery. Jerry was born January 5, 1948, to Raymond and Faye Stiewert in Haskell, Texas. He graduated from Haskell High School in 1966. Jerry attended Cisco Junior College before joining the Navy in 1969. He served as an electronics mechanic on the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War. After his discharge from the Navy, Jerry returned to Haskell and worked for Mrs. Baird's Bread a short while before he moved to Mineral Wells, Texas. He worked for Centron International until his retirement. After retirement, Jerry returned to Haskell where he enjoyed playing card games, dominoes, and bingo. Jerry was an avid fan of the Texas Rangers where he cheered for them in person and on TV. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Faye Stiewert. He is survived by his daughter, Lindsey and family of Tolar, Texas. his twin sister and husband, Terri and George Martin of Big Spring, Texas, two nephews and their wives, Scott and Frances Martin of Carrollton, Texas, and Stacey and Shelley Martin of Midland, Texas, and 2 greatnieces and a great-nephew, his special uncle, Leo Stiewert of Duncan Oklahoma, and numerous beloved cousins and many friends. Interment will be on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, Texas. Details are pending for a celebration of life in Haskell at a later date.
