Jessie Lee Turner, 64, of Abilene, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025, in Abilene. He was born in Merkel, Texas to Jerry Turner Sr. and Helen Jeanette Turner. Jessie grew up in Trent, Texas, where he attended school, and later graduated from Job Corps in South Carolina. Over the years, he worked in food service at Abilene Christian University, and later at Abilene State Supported Living Center. He was known for his sense of humor, the way he dressed, how he could shoot pool one handed, and one thing he never did was meet a stranger. Jessie enjoyed many simple pleasures in life. He loved playing dominoes, spending time with friends, and relaxing at Stevenson Park. Family gatherings were especially meaningful to him, and he was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Above all, he cherished his grandchildren. Jessie is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Jacquelyn, of Abilene; his children Roderick Turner (Heather) of Colorado, Jessica Taylor (Adrian Brown) of Abilene, Diana Boalts (Joe) of Abilene, Tara Ownby of California, Demont Stevens of South Carolina, and Brandon Garza (Ashley) of Abilene; 25 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He is also survived by his siblings: brothers Jerry Turner Jr. and Roy Lee, Ronnie Williams and sisters Cindy Beaver and Shirley Turner. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Joanna Bryant; his sisters Roberta Scruggs and Helen Turner; and his brother Bill Giddings. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 1:30pm at the Merkel Church of Christ. Visitation will be held from 11:00-1:00 at the church prior to the service.
