Obituary

Jiayun "Toby" Zhou, 41, of Abilene Texas, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024 due to a traffic accident. He was riding bicycle home after work, and was hit by a car at c.10:30 pm. He is united with his Lord Jesus Christ, and has rested from labor. Toby was a member of the "May Flower Church" in Shenzhen, China, which collectively sought for religious freedom from 2019, and receive asylum in the United States in March 2023. Toby was once estranged from them, and was the last one who found freedom. He arrived in Abilene in May 2023. A Memorial Service will be held at Abilene Bible Church, 3125 Oldham Ln, Abilene, TX 79602, at 4:00pm on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 with Pastor Daiqing Yuan officiating. Toby was born March 15, 1982 in Yangchun, Guangdong, China, to Jiemei Mo and Qiguang Zhou. He joined the labor force after graduating from middle school. After a failed marriage, he believed in Jesus, and remarried a fellow believer who brought her daughter to the family. Toby loved to keep his "Christian Sabbath" on Sunday, so he could worship God formally, even though in English that he could not understand. He sought for understanding by Bible Study with a Chinese speaking pastor, or listening to sermons online. He owned many theological books when he departed the world. Left to cherish his memories are: wife, Wenfeng "Hope" Hao; daughter, Ming "Leah" Chen; the members of the "May Flower Church," now in Midland TX, and Abilene Bible Church, his last church home on earth.
