Joe Barnett Beasley, a life-long Abilenian, died Tuesday, February 23, 2016 in Abilene at the age of 81. He was born on January 12, 1935, the youngest of Daniel Edward and Myrtie Lou King Beasley's twelve children. Joe attended Abilene High School and was employed with Philpott Florist. He later worked as Building Manager and caretaker at University Baptist Church for many years until his retirement. He served as a volunteer for the food pantry program at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church and was active in the Prime timers group there. Joe was preceded in death by his father, mother, and ten siblings. He is survived by his sister, Dannie Lou Beasley Lister of Mulberry Canyon, eighteen nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation will be 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2016, in North's Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange Street, Abilene, Texas. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 29, 2016 in Abilene's Masonic Cemetery with Jeff Reid officiating, under the direction of North's Funeral Home.
