Joe Bob Leathers 49 of Hawley passed away on Sunday January 25 2009. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Clearfork Baptist Church in Hawley with J.W. Raney officiating. Arrangements are being handled by North's Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-7:30 at North's Memorial Chapel 242 Orange Street. Mr. Leathers was born in Littlefield Texas on March 10 1959 to E.L. and Nancy Leathers. He attended Hawley ISD. He married Kathy Burton in Abilene on July 6 1979. He worked primarily in the oilfield as a driller most recently at Lariat Drilling. He was also a licensed electrician and cross-country truck driver. He was an avid motorcyclist who loved to ride his Harley. He was preceded in death by his mother Nancy White Leathers. He is survived by his wife Kathy of Hawley; father E.L. Leathers of Hawley; brother Eugene Leathers and wife Janis of Sanger; sister Sharon Smith and husband T.W. of Diana; four sons: Justin Leathers and wife Sara of Abilene; Joshua Leathers of Abilene; Bo Leathers and wife Anita of Hawley; Kevin Leathers and wife DeAnn of Sanger; three daughters: Kristi Quinones and husband Patrick of Abilene; Brandi Leathers and husband Billy Moore; Staci Flores and husband Trinidad of Abilene; sixteen grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
