Obituary

Joe "Jack" Manly 75 of Abilene passed away Saturday October 1 2011. Services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Lueders Texas with Pastor Bill Dickson officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Funston Texas under the direction of North's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at North's Memorial Chapel 242 Orange St. Mr. Manly was born March 29 1936 in Abilene Texas to Borden and Marcus Manly. He graduated from Abilene High School. After graduation he served his country in the United States Marine Corp. After returning home from the Marine Corp. he attended Abilene Christian University. He married Meldine Wills November 12 1960 in Lueders Texas.  Mr. Manly worked at the Abilene State School where he retired after thirty years. During that time he also farmed and ranched.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lueders Texas. He was also a member of the Open Door in Abilene for forty years and he loved attending football games. He was preceded in death by his parents two sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife Meldine Manly. Two daughters; Angela Hanson and husband Renn of Edmonds Washington and Jacki Wingrove and husband Lloyd of Avoca Texas. One brother Borden Manly and wife Mary of Abilene. Three grandchildren; Brandon Wingrove and wife Danielle of Williston North Dakota Linsey and Madison Wingrove of Avoca Texas.
