Joe B. Parker born September 9 1927 in Sulligent Alabama passed from this earth February 25 2013 with his family gathered around him in Abilene Texas. Joe is survived by his wife Edna of the home. He is also survived by his four daughters Kathy and husband Tom Jones of Clyde Mary and husband Joe Parker of Carlsbad NM Kara Rogge of Clyde and Karla and Mark Hamel of Carlsbad NM. Three step children Tim and Anita Turner Michelle and Will Simpler and Scott and Lupe Turner. He had 18 grand children and 22 great-grand children.
Joe was a Korean Veteran receiving a purple heart and numerous other medals. He worked to build the railroads from Alabama to Missouri. He moved to Texas in June of 1955 to spend the rest of his working career with Wes-Tex Drilling Company. He enjoyed traveling to visit relatives and to help cook at church camp meetings all over the United States. Joe Parker was loved by all that met him because of his quick wit since of humor and his willingness to help whenever he was asked or saw a need. He will be greatly missed.
The family would like to give a special recognition to all the people at Wisteria Place thank you to everybody from the Administrator doctors nurses CNA's food service and even the residents for making daddy's last months on this earth such an amazing beautiful experience. Also thank you to Hendrick Hospice for being there as extra support and love.
Services will be at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery on Thursday at 2:00pm under the direction of North's Funeral Home. A family and friends celebration will follow at Wisteria Place Chapel on 32 nd and Willis.
