Obituary

Dr. Joe King Reed Jr. passed away at his home in Abilene on Wednesday morning April 10 2013. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 13 2013 at Clyde Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday April 12 2013 at North's Funeral Home 242 Orange Street. Joe K. Reed was born December 24 1942 in Wichita Falls Texas to Joe K. Reed Sr. and Bertha "Pete" Bryant Reed. He graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1961. He attended North Texas State University and graduated from University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 1968 with his degree in dentistry. Upon graduation he entered the United States Air Force as a Captain and served for two years during the Vietnam era. He was stationed at Travis Air Force Base. Upon completion of his service he had a private practice for thirty eight years. He retired from dentistry in 2009. Joe was an avid hunter fisherman writer and even tried his hand at being a stock broker with Merrill Lynch specializing in doctors and dentists accounts for several years. His fascination with the stock market continued and he maintained a website with daily updates for all of his followers receiving over one hundred thousand hits a month. He loved to write and authored three ebooks in the past several years which can be found at www.doctorjoesite.com . He was preceded in death by his parents: Joe K. Reed Sr. and Bertha "Pete" Reed; grandparents: Joseph Anderson Reed and Laura Emma Reed; aunt Marcie Reed Nevills and uncle Edward O. "Dusty" Nevills. He is survived by his beloved Boston Terrier "Itchy"; cousins: Cara Jay Patterson and husband John of Hewitt; Monte R. Nevills of Lorena; Shae Dickey and Dae Vasek of Hewitt; Laurie Spence of Houston; Landee Nevills of Missouri; Lasen Nevills of Houston and several third cousins.
