Joe Doyle Roman age 84, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. Joe was born on July 12, 1941 in Brady, Texas to Joe I. Roman and Guadalupe Roman.
A Veteran, Joe joined the Air Force in 1961 and served for 20 years before retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. During his years of service he was stationed in Germany, Turkey, Taiwan and state side. After retiring from the Air Force, Joe and his family made their home in Baytown, Texas, where he worked for Wismer Distributing for 15 years before retiring from Wismer. In 1999, Joe bought back his parents' business, Roman's Boarding and Grooming. He operated the shop for 10 years before retiring and moving to Abilene, Texas.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Joe I. Roman and Guadalupe Roman, his son, Joe D. Roman, his wife, Nellie Roman, and his first wife, Tangie Roman.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Roman-Campbell, his daughter-in-law, Laura Roman; grandchildren, Joseph Roman and wife Delaney, Christina Roman, Elisa Roman, and Ava Roman. His sister, Gilda Roman, dear friends, Eddie White and Turner White, along with numerous cherished family members and friends. A special thank you to Alyssa Ritchey and Debbie Leger, his caregivers with Hill Country, that works with the VA.
Services will be held at North's Funeral Home, Abilene, Texas on Friday, September 26, 2025 with visitation starting at 11:00 am and funeral service with military honors at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at a later date at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Abilene, Texas.
