Joey Rodriguez, affectionately known by many as "Joe Munday," was born on December 9, 1962, in Anson, Texas, and passed away on November 5, 2025, in Abilene, Texas, surrounded by loved ones.
Joey moved to Munday, Texas, at an early age and received his education through the Munday schools. He was a proud participant in Little League baseball and built lifelong friendships in the community that knew him simply as "Joe Munday."
A talented mechanic, Joey worked for many years doing what he loved-fixing cars and helping others keep their wheels turning. He was known for his big personality, infectious humor, and ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. Joey had a way of making people laugh, whether he was spending time with family and friends, scratching off lottery tickets, or good-naturedly teasing the ladies at the local 7-Eleven. He truly never met a stranger-he knew everyone, and everyone knew him.
Joey is survived by his children: Eric Rodriguez, Aliesha Rodriguez (Darnell Brooks), Matthew Rodriguez (Valentina Ramos), and Santana Rodriguez (Jah'Davion Roundtree), all of Abilene; and by his 11 beloved grandchildren: Elias, Enzo, Maria, Matthew, Marysol, Massiah, Matthias, X'Zavier, X'Zariya, X'Zayden, and X'Zier. He is also survived by his siblings: David Rodriguez of Abilene, Sipriano Rodriguez (Mary) of Abilene, Maria Hernandez (Marcelo) of North Carolina, Barbara Rodriguez of Abilene, Mark Rodriguez of Abilene several nieces and nephews,
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sipriano and Maria Rodriguez.
Funeral services will be held Thursday November 20 at 11am at North's Funeral Home, Visitation will be held Wednesday November 19 from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
Joey will be remembered for his laughter, generosity, and the countless memories he shared with those lucky enough to know him.
