John Anthony Rankin 47, of Abilene passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024. A Graveside Services will be held on Friday January 26, 2024 at Abilene Municipal Cemetery at 1pm. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 25, 2024, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at North's Funeral Home. John A. Rankin was born July 25, 1976 in Abilene, TX to Velma Smith and Gary Leroy Rankin. John graduated from Austin school for the Deaf. After high school John worked for a while at a Plant Nursery with other challenged people. He was a very loving, and kind soul. Who enjoyed watching hot rods, motorcycles, air shows, tractor pulls, and big off road trucks. He loved large farm equipment, and bulldozers. John was a nature lover, he enjoyed spending his time at the lakes fishing, shooting bows and guns. He loved Texas and the military along with all its branches. More than anything John had a strong love for the Army. John was preceded in death by mother; Velma Smith, father; Gary Rankin, brother; who died at birth. Left to cherish his memories are: brother, Joseph Hulsey, sister-in-law; Wendy Hulsey, cousins; Kim and Gaylon Taylor, Chris Brewer, Brenda Brewer, Aunts; Judy and Lewis Brewer, Edith Cargill, and multiple other cousins, nieces and nephews.
