Johnnie Erline Feaster (nee Basinger) was born on February 19, 1926, in Italy, Texas, to John and Bertha Basinger. She was the oldest of four children raised on the family farm in Rankin, Texas, and lived her entire life in Texas. A proud graduate of Avalon High School, Johnnie went on to attend Texas State College for Women in Denton, Texas, before marrying Monroe "M.B." Feaster on May 5, 1949, in Avalon. As a homemaker, she was devoted to her family and her church, being a longtime member of the Church of Christ. Johnnie had a deep love for cooking and became well-known for her legendary burrito nights, a tradition that will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of enjoying them. Johnnie was especially proud of the two sons she and M.B. raised. Over the years, their family called Waxahachie, Gainesville, and Lubbock home. After M.B.'s passing, Johnnie lived with her sister, Billie, in Abilene, where she continued to be surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, M.B. Feaster; her parents, John and Bertha Basinger; her brothers, Glen and Ben Basinger; her brother-in-law, Leo Brown; her niece, Ginger Fikes; and her daughter-in-law, Cathy Feaster. Johnnie is survived by her sons, John Feaster of Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, and Bill (Jeri) Feaster of Fort Collins, Colorado; her sister, Billie Brown of Abilene, Texas; as well as nieces, nephews, two grandchildren, and many grandnieces and grandnephews. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caretakers and staff at Wisteria Place Long Term Care in Abilene for the compassionate care and love they provided to Johnnie during the more than four years she was in their care.
