Johnnie Ruth Sharp 91 of Abilene passed away Sunday January 25 2009 in Azle Texas. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at North Park Assembly of God with Sam Earp officiating. Burial will follow in Newman Cemetery under the direction of North's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at North's Memorial Chapel 242 Orange St. Ms. Sharp was born November 3 1917 in Sylvester Texas to Milton and Esther Montgomery. She worked at The Timex Watch factory Briarstone Manor and Hendrick Hospital in the Pediatric department. She was known to many children as "Granny". She was a member of the North Park Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents two brothers; Robert Montgomery and Sonny Montgomery. One son Bobby Sharp. A step-mother Clara. Three sisters; Billie Bowman Tommie Shelton and Mary Corprew. One grandson and two great-granddaughters. She is survived by two sisters; Jessie Jewel Clark of Mertzon Texas and JoAnn Birse and husband Peck of San Diego California. Brother Buddy Montgomery and wife Lucy of Illinois. One daughter Minnie Swanzy and husband Bill of Abilene. Four sons; Charles Sharp and wife Nancy of Meridian Texas Don Sharp and wife Barbara of Azle Texas Jack Sharp and wife Georgette of Abilene and Joe Sharp and wife Shirley of Eula.
