Jose Luis "Joe" Aguero Jose Luis Aguero, lovingly known as "Joe" passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Lytle South Baptist Church, located at 1125 E. Industrial St. in Abilene. Visitation will take place on Sunday, July 20, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at North's Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Abilene City Cemetery. Joe was born in Hodges, Texas, to Pedro Aguero and Guadalupe Johnston Aguero. He was raised in Abilene, where he attended school and developed a deep love for music that would become his lifelong passion. A gifted drummer and all-around musician, Joe's talent extended to guitar, bass, and piano. His greatest joy was playing music for the Lord, and his devotion was evident in every note he shared. His music touched many lives and brought joy to all who knew him. Joe is survived by daughters: Crystal, Patricia, Sheila, Samantha, Amanda, and Kalissa Aguero; sons Joe Aguero Jr. and Josh McGough. He also leaves behind his siblings: Juan Aguero of Dallas; Guadalupe Arispe (Eliseo) of Dallas; Nacho Aguero (Linda) of Abilene; Jacinto Aguero (Luz Maria) of Abilene; Consepsion (Shell) Hernandez of Abilene; Lucia Cervantes of Abilene ,and by his wife, Dora Resendez of Abilene. Several grand children and numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his loyal dog, Hoss. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Guadalupe Aguero; his brothers Felipe, Paul, and Pete Aguero; and his sister Eugenia Lopez. Joe will be remembered for his musical talent, his unwavering faith, and the love he shared with his family and friends. His legacy will continue to live on through the lives he touched and the music he leaves behind.
