Deacon Joseph Albert Henderson of Abilene passed away Monday, November 23, 2020 at his home. Funeral Services will be held at North's Funeral Home located at 242 Orange St. Abilene , Tx 79601 @ 11:00 AM Saturday, December 5th, 2020. Visitation will be held Friday, December 4, 2020, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at North's Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Texas State Veteran Cemetery in Abilene on Monday December 7, at 1pm with Military Honors. Joseph Albert Henderson was born in Topeka Kansas to the parents of Joseph Albert Talbert and Ida Braye Henderson. Joseph received his primary education in Abilene Texas attending Lincoln Junior high and Abilene high school. After high school Joseph served in the Navy for a few years. He later moved to Louisiana and worked at the Louisiana State Hospital for many years. While in Louisiana Joseph married his first wife, the late Lorraine Simmons Henderson, who proceeded him in death in November 1990. Joseph returned to Abilene in 1993 and worked at the Abilene State and Supported Living Center for 15 years before retiring in 2009. Joseph loved the Lord; he loved his church, where he served as a Deacon and faithful member at Shiloh Baptist Church. He began his Christian journey at Holiday Hills Baptist Church under Pastor Minor. He loved football (Dallas Cowboys) and singing. Joseph was preceded in death by his Father Joseph Albert Talbert. Left the cherish his memories are; wife Lakendra Henderson, of Abilene, mother Faye Braye Of Abilene, children; Michael Simmons(Tonga) Of Midland Texas, Deric Simmons (Kerrie) Richmond Texas, Clifton Simmons (Latasha) Alexandria Louisiana, Nicole Simmons of Midland Texas, Clifton Joseph Henderson " CJ" of Abilene Texas. Brothers; Terry Talbert of Detroit Michigan, Anthony Talbert of Topeka Kansas, Antonio Talbert of Topeka Kansas. Sisters; Renee Braye Of Abilene Texas, Tina Talbert of Detroit Michigan, Trena Talbert of Topeka Kansas. 13 Grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews extended family and many friends.
