Joseph Morgan Wood Jr. of Abilene passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022. Graveside Services will be held at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery Thursday October 6, 2022 at 1pm . Visitation will be held Wednesday October 5, 2022 from 6-8pm at North's Funeral Home located at 242 Orange st. Abilene TX 79601.

Joseph was born February 14, 1942 in La Plata, MD to Gertrude Dorothy Rhodes and Joseph Morgan Wood Sr. After High School he joined the United States Air Force. Joseph was a LVN at an Abilene Nursing Home. He was a truck driver for several years. Joseph Wood was a Abilene Independent School district special education bus driver for 16 years.

Joseph was preceded in death by parents; Gertrude Rhodes, and Joseph Wood Sr., wife Shirley Wood. sister; Mary "Becky" Grimes, brother in laws; Donald Radcliff, Ralph Hancock, and Thomas Welch.

Left to cherish his memories are: sisters; Marian Radcliff, Carol Ann Handcock, Linda Bowie- Welch, brother in law; Donald Grimes, daughter; Jennifer Simmons and wife Katherine Simmons, Son; T.J. and wife Redina Simmons, Yancey and wife Shelly Simmons, grandchildren; Steven, Samuel, Shawn, Bryan, Lance, Robeson. Shea and Chastine Simmons, Katelyn and Joseph Simmons. Several nieces, and nephews.

Special thanks to, Ms. Tinnia Bass and Matthew Johnson for the love and care you provided during the last four years. Hendrick Hospice staff for all the love they gave during his time there.
