Joshua (Josh) Stephen Perkins of Abilene, TX passed away from natural causes on May 9, 2021. Josh was born June 24, 1983 in Salina, KS to parents, Stephen (Steve) Perkins and Gail Spooner Perkins, growing up in Kansas and Nebraska and a short time in Iowa before moving with the family to Texas in 1996. Josh is survived by his parents Steve and Gail Perkins: brothers, Jonathan Perkins, El Paso, Jesse Perkins, Abilene; sisters, Stephanie Perkins Anderson, St Joseph, Mo and Rachel Perkins Rodriguez, Abilene, Tx. Josh married Twhila Dean March 29, 2003 later divorcing and parents of Daughter Taralynn Perkins 17 and Son Austin Perkins 15 and Grandson Ryan Perkins 1 1/2 all of Big Spring Texas.
Josh attended Schools in Beloit Ks and North Platte, Nebraska where he played Middle School Football after the move to Abilene, he attended Lincoln Middle School and then Abilene High School where he played football for 3 years and graduated in 2000. He was employed at HEB for several years and then worked at the Royal Inn as a Desk Clerk and working up to other duties since 2012. Josh was also the Church Administrator/sound and technical advisor at Hope 4 Life Church in Abilene, Texas for over 6 years.
Josh was very proud of his kids as they grew and was really proud of being a grandfather, he got a big laugh out of his son Austin and his huge gift wish List for Christmas and birthdays. Josh was also proud of Austin's sports abilities. Josh was looking forward to the upcoming marriage of his daughter, Taralynn Perkins later this year, and proud of the Young woman she has become and the mother she is to her son Ryan.
Josh loved tinkering with computers and technologies being the sound and video operator at his church and always willing to help others with computer and audio-visual issues. He would spend hours talking about the latest technical things with his brothers or anyone who would listen. He loved playing video games with his brothers and his son. Watching football with his dad and brothers and just hanging out drinking coffee.
Josh was an integral part of the Church Ministry at Hope 4 Life Church taking care of the administrative duties and the computer, technology, and audio-visual needs of the church.
A Memorial "Celebration of Life" Service will be Saturday, May 15th at Hope 4 Life Church,3502 Rebecca Lane, Abilene, Texas 79606 at 10:00 am. Family will be available for visitation at the Church starting at 9:30 am.
Pastor Brian Massey will moderate the service with brother Jonathan Perkins delivering the message and sister Rachel Rodriguez will provide special music and dad Steve Perkins will present a message. Worship will be provided by the Hope 4 Life Worship Team.
