With deep love and remembrance, we announce the passing of Jovita Briones de Salazar, who was born on July 10, 1943, in Sombrerete, Zacatecas, to Francisco Briones Marentes and Francisca Longoria Vasquez. She married the love of her life, Demetrio Salazar Tavares, in 1961 in Sombrerete, Zacatecas, and together they built a life centered on family and devotion. Jovita enjoyed cleaning, listening to her favorite music, and going to garage sales. More than anything, she treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her caring nature and the love she shared with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Demetrio Salazar Tavares; her parents, Francisco Briones Marentes and Francisca Longoria Vasquez; and her brothers, Juan Briones Longoria and Enrique Briones Longoria. Jovita is survived by her children: Raquel Salazar and husband Pedro Galvan of Tulsa; Juan Manuel Salazar and wife Martha Salazar of Abilene; and Maria Salazar and husband Juan M. Bermudez of Kaufman. She is also survived by her siblings: Juventino Briones, Noe Briones, Martin Briones, Altagracia Briones, Maria A. Briones, Jose Luis Briones, Virginia Briones, Juanita Briones, Francisco Briones, Rosalva Briones, Laura Briones, Jesus Briones, Antonia Briones, and Javier Briones. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Angelica, Daniel, Paloma, Veronica, Paula, Alex, David, Andrew, Abigail, and Daniel; as well as her treasured great-grandchildren: Anisah, Jackie, Michael, Lexie, Aidan, Alejandro, Juan, Carolina, Everleigh Kaye, and David. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 25, 2026, with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. at North's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at North's Funeral Home.
