Joyce Faye Hill McFadden, age 86, of Abilene, Texas, passed away Sunday, February 26th after a long fought battle with cancer. Joyce was born on September 7, 1936 to Cecil and Ida Faye Hill in Ballinger, Texas. Joyce attended school in Ballinger and enjoyed having her extended family close. A sense of family was instilled in her at a young age and was always important. Joyce met the love of her life, Guy McFadden, in 1951 at the young age of 15. When she made Guy aware of how old she was, he was pretty sure her daddy would have a few words for him. However, Guy and Joyce made a beautiful couple and would go on to be married on November 6, 1953 (69 years). Over the next several years, Joyce would support her husband in his career and raise two boys, Don and Doug. After the boys had grown up, Joyce set out and started her own career. Joyce began working for Abilene ISD in Food Service in 1974 at Bowie Elementary. She continued there until Thomas Elementary was built in 1992 when Mr. Sam Thomas asked her personally to move over and join the Thomas Team. Joyce agreed and worked there until 2019. She retired with 45 years of service to AISD. She made lifelong friendships with coworkers, teachers and administrators. Everyone adored her! Especially the thousands of students that greeted her as "Grandma" over the years. Joyce looked after, fed, and worried over every one of those students. She took pride in her job and that she was doing something that made a difference in those kids' lives every day! In 2019 when Joyce retired from AISD, her husband also retired and they decided it might be time to take it easy. Joyce loved her family! She especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed crafting, interior design, and working in her yard in her spare time. Holidays were always big at her house. More food than you could imagine and a whole day of enjoying the company of family. Nothing made her happier than for people to enjoy food and each other. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Ida Faye Hill. She is survived by her husband Guy McFadden of Abilene, her sons Don McFadden, and wife Debra, of Abilene, and Doug McFadden, and wife Rose, of Cocoa, FL. Brother Marion Hill, and wife Virginia, of Ballinger. Three grandchildren Chrissy Cross (Jimmy) of Abilene, Sean McFadden of Cristoval and Cory McFadden (Hope) of Abilene. And the stars in her sky, four great grandchildren, Drake, Erin, Lillian Gray and Ever. As well as many nieces and nephews and friends that became family. A memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made to:
