June Morton 79 of Abilene passed away Friday July 25 2008. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in Elmwood Memorial Park with Dr. Phil Christopher officiating under the direction of North's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 - 7:30 at North's Memorial Chapel 242 Orange St. Ms. Morton was born June 22 1929 to George and Katie Preston in Abilene Texas. She was a graduate of Abilene High School in 1948. She was in the Abilene High School Band under the direction of Mr. Bynum. She worked for Southwest Savings and Loan until her retirement. She had many hobbies which included; fishing yard work crossword puzzles and crocheting. She had a long illness with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter Donna Young; one sister LaVerne Kusenberger and husband Paul of San Antonio Texas and one niece Brenda Bienfang of San Antonio Texas .
