Junius Doyle Haynes "Skip", age 84 passed from this life on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in Abilene. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 6pm to 8pm at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St., Abilene. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Friday, May 21 at The Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest, 602 Meander St., Abilene with Ftr. David Romanik officiating. Burial will follow at the Abilene City Cemetery under the direction of the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest with Masonic burial rites to follow .
Skip was born on April 9, 1937 in Stratford, Oklahoma to Jewel and Ruby Haynes. He retired from the US Air Force as a Master Sargent and proudly served his country in Korea and Vietnam. After his military service, Skip joined the US Postal Service in Abilene as a letter carrier, retiring in 2004. He was 32nd Degree Master Mason, member of the Abilene Shrine and Scottish Rite and loved to ride his motorcycle.
Skip was preceded in death by parents and sister Elva Kirkley.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Haynes of Abilene; sons Chris Haynes and wife Allison of Stephenville, TX, John David Haynes and wife Candace of Virginia Beach, Va. and sister Phyllis Wood of Bartlesville, Ok..
