Kathleen Crowley Taylor, 85, of McKinney, formerly of Abilene, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014. Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange Street with burial to follow in the Buffalo Gap Cemetery. Kathleen was born on July 14, 1928 to Thomas R. and Norene Crowley. She was raised in southwestern New York State, where she enjoyed the Cuba Lake facilities, including roller skating and dancing. Kathleen graduated from St. Elizabeth's Academy in Rochester, New York and attended Scudder Culver College and graduated in 1947. She later married Russell N. Taylor on August 14, 1948 at St. Bonaventure University Library in Allegany, NY. They moved to Texas in 1950, where they raised their four children. She was a very devout catholic and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she worked in the rectory for many years. She was a catechism teacher during her children's school years and later became a volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church Store. She also spent numerous years volunteering at the Abilene Daycare and Nursery on S. 7th, where she lived nearby. She later moved to McKinney, TX to be closely taken care of by her son Billy, while she lived in a retirement home. She was a true inspiration to everyone around her by her thoughts, words, and deeds, never complaining, and always complimenting. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Eileen Taylor Massey; and one son, Patrick Russell Taylor. She is survived by two sons: Billy Taylor and wife, Jackie of McKinney, Texas and Thomas J. Taylor of Abilene, Texas; six grandchildren - Sarah Kate Taylor Jones, Grace Taylor Edsel, Luke Taylor, Lilly Taylor, Jennifer Massey Peterson, and John Russell Massey, as well as four great-grandchildren, who will all miss her dearly.
