Kathryn Phipps, age 86, died in Abilene, Texas on Thursday, December 26, 2019. There will be no formal services held. The family will have a Private Burial. Born on October 5, 1933 in Radium, Texas, Kathryn attended Hamlin High School, Odessa High School, and graduated from Lubbock High School. She married Carroll Phipps on December 24, 1950 in Hamlin, Texas, and the two settled in Abilene in 1957. Kathryn was a long-time member at Highland Church of Christ and worked with her husband and three sons for many years in the family business, Sam's Rent-All. She enjoyed spending time with her four grandchildren, and especially loved decorating every room of her house for Christmas each year. Kathryn was predeceased by her parents, Joseph "Boss" Smith and Stella Wright Smith, her husband, Carroll, and her aunt Winnie Scifres. Survivors include her three sons: Randy Phipps of Princeton, Texas, Nick Phipps and wife Denise of Abilene, and Craig Phipps and wife Angie of Princeton; her brother Jackie Smith of Abilene; and her four grandchildren: Ryan Phipps of Dallas, Texas, Briley May and husband Andrew of New Braunfels, Texas, Nicole Phipps of Austin, Texas, and Caleb Phipps of College Station, Texas.
