Kelvin King 55 of Abilene passed away November 21, 2024 at The Oaks at Radford Hills Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be held Tuesday December 3, 2024 at 11am at North's Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at North's Funeral Home Monday 5-7pm. Kelvin was born April 25,1969 in Abilene, Texas to Bobby Carter and Perline King. He received his education in the Abilene public schools where he was a popular football star at Lincoln Middle School and Cooper High School. He was very multi-talented, enjoying hobbies such as playing the piano and organ, as well as drawing. He worked in different industries over the years including the restaurant business, grocery retail, and sales. He attended Galilee Baptist Church and strived to maintain much of his independence up until his health began to decline. He was preceded in death by both parents, grandparents King and Ruby Gatson, several aunts and uncles, and some cousins. Left to cherish his memories are sons: Eric King (Carol King-mother) and Akeem King (Renee Crosby-mother); uncles: Charles King, Otis King, Rev. Curtis King (Lavita), Rev. Bobby King, Sr. (LaTanya); aunts: Minister Jane "Doll" Garrett who raised him, Odell "Tee" Mathis, Nora Smith (Bobby), Elizabeth Beaver (Nathaniel); host of nieces and nephews, and many friends. A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who offered support and prayers during a difficult time. Special recognition of Nora Lee Smith, Elizabeth Beaver and his ex-wife, Carol King, for their unwavering love and support during Kelvin's transition to be with God, and special thanks to the nursing staff at Oaks at Radford Hills and Hendrick Hospice, as well as the support and service provided by North Funeral Home.
