Laurie Jeanne Watson 82 of Abilene died in a local hospital Saturday August 1 2009. Visitation will be from 6pm to 7pm Monday August 3 2009 at North's Funeral Home 242 Orange St. Rosary will start at 7pm at North's Funeral Home. Mass will be at 10am Tuesday August 4 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of North's Funeral Home. Jeanne was born March 18 1927 in Abilene to Frank A. and Mildred Louise Konczak. She was a graduate of Hendricks School of Nursing and attended Texas Women's University. She married Jack Watson on December 20 1951 in Clyde Texas. During her more than 30 years in nursing she taught at the Professional School of Nursing and was later the Director of the LVN program at Hendricks. At one time she had an impact on half of the staff at Hendricks. She did not just show up for work she cared for each person she came in contact with for she loved people. Jeanne and her husband Jack started the Loaves and Fishes food pantry at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where they taught members how to eat and cook to be healthier. Mrs. Watson was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for over 80 years the Texas Nurses Association and the Audubon Society. Her parents a brother and two sisters preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband Jack of Abilene; two sons and daughters-in-laws Mike and Susan Watson of Sulphur Springs Texas Willie and Pam Watson of Abilene; one daughter and son-in-law Laura and Donald Butts of Bellville Texas; one brother and 2 sisters; grandchildren Chris Watson Jason Watson Tyler Watson Emily Butts Tammy Watson Jordan Watson Remington Butts Ryan Watson; one great-grandchild Cameron Watson.
