LaVerne Wolf 78 of Abilene died Monday at a local hospital. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in Fredericksburg. Local arrangements are being handled by North's Funeral Home. Born Jan. 7 1931 in Cudahy Wisconsin she was the daughter of Loyd and Hazel Prey and grew up in Dubuque Iowa. She married the Rev. Raymond Wolf on June 12 1949. They lived in Wharton Brenham Knippa Hallettsville and Mason where he served parishes as a Lutheran minister. The Rev. Wolf died in 1975 and Mrs. Wolf moved to Abilene in 1978 where she was the manager of Abilene East Apartments until 1995. After her retirement she lived in Minneapolis Minn. Traverse City Mich. and Cleveland Ohio before moving back to Abilene in May. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and enjoyed needlepoint crafts and bingo. She was preceded in death by her parents husband and a brother Earl Prey of Los Angeles. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law David and Janie Wolf of Hallettsville and James and Paula Wolf of Albuquerque N.M.; a daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Larry Zelisko of Abilene; two sisters Beverly Denyes of Traverse City and Carole Kaufman of Minneapolis Minn.; grandchildren -- Ryan Wolf Aaron Wolf Alison Wolf Matt Zelisko Melanie Zelisko Brittany Wolf and Dustin Wolf sisters-in-law Elizabeth Wolf of Abilene Patricia Gill of Houston Juanita Rabel of Weimar and Judy Prey of Los Angeles; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
