Lawrence "Larry" James Courts, age 60, of Abilene, TX died on April 7, 2014 at Hendrick Hospice Care. A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Msgr Frederick Nawarskas officiating. Interment will be in Gouverneur, NY at a later date.
Larry was born in Manchester, Connecticut on September 28, 1953 to James Carlton Courts and Alice Ann Campany Courts. He was a 1971 graduate of Gouverneur, High School in Gouverneur, New York. He moved his family to Texas in the late 1970's. He began working at Caterpillar Equipment Company as a diesel mechanic where he just completed 35 years of employment.
He was a wonderful son, father, grandfather, and brother who dedicated his time to his family and friends. Larry enjoyed working around the house, hunting, and tinkering around on projects in his garage. He had a big heart and was passionate about helping those in their time of need, whoever the person might have been. Larry had a love of his family that surpassed no other, and had a special place in his heart for his children and grandchildren. A man with a tender heart; he made friends wherever he went and treated everyone with respect and love. Larry was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He will be forever missed and loved.
Larry is survived by his two sons: Michael Courts and wife Breanna of Columbia, SC and Noel Courts and wife Kelly of Abilene, TX; Five grandchildren: Eric, Robin, Brandon, Brooklyn and Avarie (due in May); His mother: Alice Ann Campany Courts Perry and husband Ollie of Amarllo, TX; two sisters: Sally Courts Besaw and husband Joe of Rochester, NY and Peggy Courts Garrett of Naples, FL; two brothers: Joseph Courts and wife Lori of Raleigh, NC and Steve Courts and wife Patsy of Amarillo, TX and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father James Carlton Courts.
