Leandro Velez Garcia 82 of Abilene passed away Friday May 7 2010. A funeral service will be held 11:10 a.m. Saturday at North's Memorial Chapel 242 Orange Street with Father Bush officiating. Mr. Velez was born May 31 1927 in Villa Frontera Coahuila Mexico to Leandro and Manuela Velez. He worked for National Railroad for thirty-eight years in Mexico before retiring and moving to Abilene. He married Graciela Lopez on May 31 1947. They were married for Fifty-nine years before her demise in 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents wife and one sister. He is survived by his children; Roberto and Olivia Velez of Abilene Alfonso and Graciela Gonzales of Sabinas Mexico Leandro and Patricia Velez of Moclova Mexico Raul and Patricia Velez of Mexico City Jesus and Juanita Velez of Abilene Maria Elena Velez and Adriana Torres of Abilene and Guillermo and Margarita Velez of Abilene.
