Leland "Lee" Forney Jackson III
Leland Forney Jackson III, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, and friend, passed into the gates of heaven on April 3, 2026, in Abilene, Texas.
Leland was born on August 17, 1944, in Terrell, TX, to Janice and Leland Jackson II. He lived a life rooted in service, family, and the simple joys he loved most. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and carried that same strength, discipline, and dedication throughout his professional life as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Leland made his home in Abilene, Texas, where he was known for his love of fishing, hunting, and computers. He was proud of his education, attending Woodrow Wilson High School (Class of 1964), Allen Military Academy, Cisco Junior College (Class of 1970), and Texas Tech University (Class of 1971).
Leland shared 45 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Peggy Patrick Jackson, and together they built a life centered around family and lasting memories.
Leland was preceded in death by his parents, Janice and Leland Jackson II; his wife, Peggy Patrick Jackson; his brother, Jim; and his sister, Joy.
He is survived by his brother, Jeff Jackson, and his five children: Marnie Jackson, Shanie Langer, Kelly Grissom, Stacy Robinson, and Jett Robinson.
His legacy continues through his seven grandchildren: Lauren Morris, Kaylee Langer, Jackson Padilla, Tyler Padilla, Danny Padilla, Kendra Grissom O'Dell, and Asher Robinson. He is also survived by his two great-grandsons, J.T. O'Dell and Jake O'Dell.
A graveside service will be held at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, TX, at a later date.
