Lola Lou Schmittel 77 of Abilene passed away Saturday November 12 2011. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in North's Memorial Chapel 242 Orange St. Ms. Schmittel was born January 20 1934 in St. Joseph Missouri to Clarence and Ethel (Whaley) Wellman. She married Warren (Bud) Schmittel in 1972. She moved to Abilene in 1996 and worked for Hope Haven of Abilene. She was a member of the True Hope Church of Arkansas.She was preceded in death by her parents husband and two children.   She is survived by one daughter Shirley Lee and husband Jack of Woodville California. Her extended family; C. J. Groseclose and  Ken of Lewisville Texas Marla and Greg Larson of Gunnison Colorado Lana and Steve Nasci of Albuquerque New Mexico Desiree Schmittel – Dyer of Albuquerque New Mexico and Colleen and Rich Rud of Abilene. Six grandchildren seven great-grandchildren and many many "adopted" kids and grandchildren.   In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hope Haven of Abilene.
