Lorene Carnes 90 of Hawley passed away Sunday June 30 2013. Services will be at 2pm Wednesday July 3 rd at North's Funeral Home Chapel 242 Orange Street. Lorene was born March 10 1923 in Haskell. She was raised in Mineral Wells. It was there she met the love of her life Burney. They wed on March 12 1941. They spent 60 wonderful years together before he passed away in 2002. Lorene and Burney raised their five children in Hawley. Their home was filled with love and laughter grandkids and good food especially her wonderful dumplings. She always said riches were not measured by money or possessions but by the love of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas Russell Bryant and Docie Sears her husband Burney daughter Deloris Clinton daughter-in-law Carole Carnes and two granddaughters Chanda Pittman and Kathy Carnes and 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Survivors include sons Billy Carnes and wife Brenda Rodger Carnes and Gery Carnes and wife Wanda all of Hawley and daughter Barbara Taggart and husband Wayne of Novice. Also included are 14 grandchildren 27 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren with one on the way.
